Technological change have come to our age which gives a different set of behaviors and experiences to the millennials than their parents, yes digital age is real. Millennial is a generation of people born between the year 1982-2000.
It was a decade of extreme transformation. As the whole world is into this stage, Palawan is no stranger to millennials.
Everywhere you go there are a lot of millennials which means they are here to reshape the economy, they are the future leaders of the Philippines. They are generally regarded as open minded do-gooders. They are self-expressive individuals which makes this time a different world with different worldviews. A career for millennials is a journey of self-discovery.
Hip food courts are everywhere, coffee shops also boomed wrapping up a coffee as an expression of it’s time for the millennials.
Yes, they are tech-savvy, absolutely obsessed with social media , maintaining their social connections through their smartphones.
A lot of times, you’ll see them staring at their phones alone or two or in a group having a very lively conversation. They have different versions of themselves depending on what they want the world to see them. They might not be the same person as you see them in social media than in real life. But don’t get me wrong, they are mostly confident, independent and educated individuals.
Millennials truly do care about the environment.
When all over the world the statistics about plastic waste are ever growing and most of the littered plastics ultimately ends up at sea swirled by currents. Especially that Palawan is seriously aware of environmental protection… you will see them in this Coastal Clean-up, the simplest, yet highly effective action. It is the most immediate that we can undertake right now to contribute to the solution because sometimes blaming others will take us out of the present, not denying the fact that there are times when the present is hard to understand.
But what we can do?… it is to make things happen. The world behind our eyes is our new frontier. It just simply starts with individual choices which resides within each and everyone of us.
Millennials got these words and phrases that they only understand, those are really cool words very slang dictionary terms. I can’t help but overhear them.
Millennials are engaged in those cause of which they are not swayed as a requirement for school or work but believing that volunteerism is noble, to help people and communities. They resemble a light that defines our culture nowadays.
They offer their time and some form of resources in their very humble way of giving back, just admirable and impressive acts.
Some millennials have been setting aside significant milestones of their lives like marriage and kids. But that doesn’t mean they wanna stay single forever. They are good with having someone but they are just as okay without one knowing it will come in the right time which simply means they are not bothered delaying marriage, they got a lot in their bucket list anyway.
They are adventurous, ambitious, more competitive individuals. Their views on work, life and balance are more idealistic. They go for adventures and explorations. They’d rather spend their hard-earned money to travel and immerse in different cultures, to say very hungry to discover new things in life.
They are liberal, upbeat and receptive to new ideas and ways of living. Younger millennials are more practical, especially on how they purchase. They are more aware of the reviews and follow items that can offer maximum convenience and comfort at lowest price.
Daily commitment to eating right and exercising are some of the reminders they know is tough but a must, not just as not to be sick but to be healthy knowing everything will follow. Mountain climbing and trekking, bird watching, zumba classes are privileges plus the many advantages it brings surrounding it’s major advocacy. There’s really so much than what we could be doing.
We are in a generation where we feel free and open to live our lives as our true selves. LGBTQ continued to rise and prove themselves today and in future generations.
Proud of the millennials taking initiative to make things better thinking that the glass is half full, an optimism that inspire everyone. Keep going above and beyond guys.
